Most high-use doors and gates are automated to reduce inconvenience. The go-to access control solution for automated gate and door applications is a telephone entry system.

As the name suggests, telephone entry systems use calling as a way to grant entry onto a property. Different systems have a variety of different features, but the main difference between types of telephone entry systems is by how the call is made: Cellular, Wired Internet, or WiFi.

Whoever receives the call will be able to grant entry access by simply pressing a button from their phone, making telephone entry systems an easy way to remotely secure a property.

As the name suggestions, these telephone entry systems have a SIM card and use a cell signal the same way a mobile phone does. Due to requiring cell service, these telephone entry systems have an additional monthly fee to the cell service provider, but work further from a residence or commercial building than other options.

Wired Telephone Entry System

Instead of using cell service, this type of telephone entry system uses ethernet, a wired internet connection, to call. This type of system does require a wired connection, so that typically limits the distance it can be from a residence or commercial building. They do not require any additional monthly costs, though.

Wireless Telephone Entry System

Telephone entry systems that use wireless internet, or WiFi, are good options for applications that may not receive cell service and be too far for a wired internet option. They also require any additional monthly cost in addition to the cost of internet service.
