TYPES OF KEYPADS
While there are a myriad different brands & types of keypads available for access control, the main consideration is how they are going to be powered & communicate with the access control system as a whole. Similar features are available for both wireless and wired options.
WIRELESS KEYPADS
As the name suggests, wireless keypads don’t use wired electricity or communication with the access control system to function. This is useful in applications where a gate might be too far from an electrical source, but unlike wired keypads, their batteries do need to be changed approximately every year or so.

WIRED KEYPADS
Wired keypads use wired electrical and communication with the access control system to operate. They don’t require batteries, but will not work at applications that are far from a power source.
